EAGE was founded in 1951 when much of the formality of an earlier era persisted. But, from the beginning, the Association managed to stay true to its motto ‘Quaere et Invenies’, Seek and ye shall find. EAGE and its successors reached out first to geophysicists, but then as the nature of the petroleum industry changed, it broadened its platform. There were watersheds in 1989 and again in 1995 over the EAEG, EAPG and establishment of the EAGE we know today. The EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers) IIT Bombay Student Chapter was created in August 2021. Being the first version of the EAGE student chapter at IITB, we aim toward a holistic approach to delivering and sharing knowledge in the broad Geo-scientific discipline. The EAGE seeks to promote the development and application of geosciences and related engineering subjects, promote innovation in every endeavour and establish a connection with those working in, studying, or otherwise interested in these fields. The EAGE Student Chapter at IIT Bombay is aligned with these values and has the mission of connecting the students to the energy industry.
The objectives of the Association shall be to promote the development and application of geosciences and related engineering subjects, to promote innovation and technical progress and to foster the communication, fellowship and cooperation between those working in, studying or otherwise being interested in these fields.
We’re one of the largest multidisciplinary geoscience organisations globally, with members active in over 110 different countries and territories.
You can create an account and apply for membership through the My EAGE portal. We’re offering 1-, 3- and 5-year membership packages.
The student chapter at IIT-Bombay will be sponsoring a maximum of 15 new membership per session which may be increased depending on the activities of the chapter and with due approval from the EAGE community.

SPEAKER: Dr Chaitanya H Mehta, Former Executive Director & Head, O.N.G.C, Dehradun
Date: 1 October 2021
The Laurie Dake
Challenge is created with the aim to promote cross‐disciplinary
geoscience and engineering integration within universities. Each participating
university will have a multi‐disciplinary team of full-time
geoscience and petroleum engineering students, with a maximum of one Ph.D.
student per team. the competition starts with a first round with an assignment
that is prepared by each team. Ten teams will be selected and will be required
to analyze and propose a field development plan for a discovered hydrocarbon
resource. Each team is required to submit the field plan and development in the
format requested by the judges and based on this submission, the six finalist
teams are selected. All teams work with the same data set, which is provided by
a different company each year.

Our team named CarboNIL has been selected in the top 11 teams globally for the second round of the Minus CO2 Challenge.
The minus CO2 Challenge is a prestigious challenge where teams from around the globe compete on a project related to energy transition and climate change. Students have the chance to win the grand prize of €2000 along with perks for attending the global symposia held annually in Europe.
The EAGE Student chapter of IIT Bombay is very proud to announce that our student team viz. CarboNIL has won the Minus CO2 Challenge-2021 clinching the top alongside other 3 finalists from Brazil (Federal University of Bahia), UAE (Khalifa University), and Norway (University of Stavanger).
The following students were the team members of CarboNIL:

WHAT DISTINGUISHES OUR STUDENT CHAPTER?
Our student chapter is born out of motivation and a dire need for a revolution in the field of Geoscience and Engineering. Being the only Geoscience department without a core petroleum engineering department at IIT Bombay, we are the pioneer in the global application and distribution of Geoscientific knowledge under the aegis of EAGE. Being the first version of the EAGE student chapter at IITB, we aim toward a holistic approach to delivering and sharing knowledge related to the broad Geoscientific disciplines and engineering. We take this opportunity to promote innovation in every endeavour and to establish a connection between those working in, studying, or otherwise being interested in these fields. The EAGE Student Chapter at IIT Bombay is aligned with these values and has the mission of connecting the students to the energy industry. We have planned a host of events to make our chapter more active globally, while our next session will focus more on the Energy Transition and how climate change is impacting the energy industry.
Our multidisciplinary team has managed to grab the 1st runners-up in the EAGE Laurie Dake challenge and won the Minus CO2 challenge, 2021.
With COVID at the backdrop, there are severe limitations in both deliverability
and accessibility of our student chapter activities. However, we are optimistic
about our chapter and shall try to be at our best in representing both
IIT-Bombay and EAGE globally.
With hope and optimism, we can define the success we want.
