Welcome
The AAPG Student Chapter at Department of Earth Sciences, IIT Bombay is functioning to improve the personal, academic and professional development of students within the Department of Geological Sciences. Some of the objectives for the chapter include organizing field trips, arranging for guest speakers, and coordinating networking opportunities with geosciences professionals.
There are many events in plan for the upcoming semester. Take a look at our Events page to see all of the activities being planned for this semester. We are very excited about our new officers and we're hoping to gain many new members at our first meeting of the fall 2010 semester on Wednesday, August 25th. We are also currently organizing a team for the Imperial Barrel Competition for the 2011 year.
Involvement in our chapter first requires a membership in the AAPG. For students, this membership can be provided at no cost through industry sponsorships. We hope to see an increase in membership and participation in the following year.
IITB student chapter is miscellaneous in terms of its members. Last year, this chapter had more than 45 members with a marvelous combination of students from Master of Science (Applied geology and geophysics), Master of Technology (Geoexploration and Petroleum Geosciences) and Research Scholars. As this year AAPG IITB student chapter reactivated, fabulous increase in New Member is recorded and it reached to more than 100.
