Now, with the completion of my Ph.D., I am loking for POST DOCTORAL position in the areas of GEOCHEMISTRY, IGNEOUS PETROLOGY, where I can utilize my Doctoral research experience of working on the Geochemistry and Petrology of Barren Island (subduction related volcano located in the Andaman Sea, Indian Ocean) volcanics and enhance my knowledge and contribute to the subject area. I have already received the certificate of completion of my Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (Mumbai, India). I am in a position to join imediately. About my Doctoral Research Work
My Ph.D. research work entitled Geological, Geochemical and Geothermal Studies on the Barren Island Volcano, Andaman Sea, Indian Ocean aims at understanding the volcanological, geochemical and petrogenetic evolution of the lone active volcano on the Indian Territory through petrological, geochemical and isotopic studies, in order to delineate the role of various subduction zone components in arc volcanism, in the context of Andaman Subduction Zone. Barren Island is the last of the active volcanoes towards the northern side of the volcanic arc that extends from Myanmar (earlier known as Burma) through Sumatra, Java and Bali up to Banda Sea (comprising the Indonesian volcanoes). One of the major findings of the work is that Barren Island volcanics are the least evolved ones on this volcanic arc and primitive composition of certain samples represents an important reference composition for the entire arc. |
